Carp Fishing

Carp Fishing

Fishing is a widely popular sport around the world. It is also a great activity to participate in and leads to some great stories about someone’s day out on the lake or river fishing for anything from trout to carp. One man who was fishing at Shimano Linear lakes in Oxfordshire tells a story about carp that he saw. He had climbed a tree to look down on the water to see if there were any carp. He saw about an 18-pound one feeding near a gravel bar.

Upon going to get a buddy and returning, the carp was gone but soon reappeared. Soon after, two more huge carp showed up but none of them were taking any bait. Then a carp swam along that must have been around 30 pounds and took a bait line in his mouth. However, once it felt the resistance of the line, it swam back and dropped the line out of its mouth, just like that. This man could not believe what he saw that day on the lake.

Another man recalls one time standing in the shallow water of a pond fishing for carp when a 12-pound carp swam up to about 2 feet from his feet. He dropped in pieces of bread and the fish ate them each time. Just as he was going to put some bread on his hook and catch the friendly fish, he had second thoughts. It didn’t seem like sport catching the carp that had swum right up to him and obviously trusted him enough to stay there and eat the bread. So instead of catching it, that day he just fished further out and continued to feed the carp who had come so close.
